Analysis of Electromagnetic Scattering Using Arrays of Fictitious Sources

چکیده
|The use of models of ctitious elemental current sources, located inside the scatterer, to simulate the scattered eld, has proved to be an eecient computational technique for analyzing scattering by metallic bodies. This paper presents a novel modiication of the technique in which the omnidirectional elemental sources are arranged in groups of array-sources with directional radiation patterns, and the boundary testing points are arranged in groups of testing arrays with directional receiving patterns. This modiication, which is motivated by physical understanding, is equivalent to mathematical basis transformations. It renders the system matrix more localized and thereby enables the analysis of larger bodies. The new approach is applied to the case of TM scattering by a perfectly conducting square cylinder with side-length of 20. Reduction of 50% in the number of the non-zero elements of the system matrix is achieved with virtually no degradation in the accuracy of the RCS calculations.

Analysis of Electromagnetic Scattering from Linear Periodic Arrays of Penetrable Bodies Using a Cylindrical Current Model
A novel solution is presented for the problem of three-dimensional electromagnetic scattering of a time-harmonic plane wave from an infinite periodic linear array of finite-sized homogeneous bodies. A set of fictitious sources comprising periodic and properly modulated cylindrical electric current sheets of dual polarization is used to simulate the scattered field. The field in the body region ...

In this paper we study the incorporation of wavelet{transforms into the source-model technique (SMT) for eecient analysis of electromagnetic scattering problems. The idea is to divide the discrete sources into groups of arrays with wavelet amplitude distributions. We refer to these array sources as ctitious wavelet array sources. They can be readily formed by applying appropriate wavelet transf...

We describe a way to combine the method of fictitious sources and the scattering-matrix method. The resulting method presents concurrently the advantages of these two rigorous methods. It is able to solve efficiently electromagnetic problems in which the structure is made up of a jacket containing an arbitrary set of scatterers. The method is described in a two-dimensional case, but the basic i...

Full-wave electromagnetic simulations of electrically large arrays of complex antennas and scatterers are challenging, as they consume large amount of memory and require long CPU times. This paper presents a new reduced-order modeling technique to compute scattering and radiation from large arrays of complex scatterers and antennas. In the proposed technique, each element of the array is replac...
